What is Cisco Catalyst Center AI Analytics?

Cisco Catalyst Center, formerly DNA Center, includes AI Network Analytics and a Machine Reasoning Engine. It learns each network's normal behaviour, detects deviations, correlates events to a root cause, and recommends or automates fixes, across wired and wireless. It is Cisco's on-premises engine for assurance and AIOps in the campus.

What is Meraki AI?

Meraki AI refers to the machine-learning and AI features built into the Cisco Meraki cloud dashboard: anomaly detection, AI-powered troubleshooting, predictive insights and automated recommendations. Because Meraki is cloud-managed, these run across every site from one place, which makes AIOps especially straightforward for distributed estates.

What is the Cisco AI Assistant?

The Cisco AI Assistant is a generative-AI helper built into Cisco's networking and security platforms. It lets teams query the network, investigate issues and make changes using natural language, turning tasks that took hours of investigation into a question. It sits on top of the telemetry Catalyst Center and Meraki already collect.

What is Cisco ThousandEyes?

Cisco ThousandEyes is an assurance platform that monitors the network, the internet and application performance end to end, including the ISP and cloud-provider paths you do not own. It uses AI-driven insight to show where a problem actually is, which is essential when so much traffic crosses networks outside your control.

How does AI find the root cause of a network problem?

AI finds root cause by continuously correlating telemetry across the network, learning what normal looks like, and reasoning about how events relate. Instead of an engineer manually piecing together logs from many devices, the platform links the symptom, say poor Wi-Fi in one area, to the cause, such as an overloaded uplink or an RF change, and presents it directly, often with a recommended fix.

Can the network really self-heal?

To a growing extent, yes. For well-understood, common problems, AI-driven platforms can apply automated remediation, or guide an engineer through a one-click fix, so the issue is resolved without manual investigation or a site visit. Complex or novel problems still need people, but the routine ones, which are most of them, increasingly resolve themselves. What is the difference between AI-driven networking and AI infrastructure?

They sound similar but point in opposite directions. AI-driven networking is using AI to run the network: assurance, automation and self-healing. AI infrastructure is the GPU compute, storage and fabric that runs AI workloads, a data center capability. In short, AI-driven networking is AI applied to the network; AI infrastructure is infrastructure built for AI. Proactive delivers both, as separate practices.

Do I need AI-driven networking for a small network?

Not always to the same degree. A single small site sees less benefit than a large, multi-site estate, where the value of catching problems early and running many locations with one team compounds. That said, the assurance and troubleshooting features are useful even at modest scale, and they often come with the Cisco platforms you already run, so the cost of using them is low.

What determines the cost of AI-driven networking?

Much of AI-driven networking comes with the licensing of Cisco Catalyst Center, Meraki and ThousandEyes, so cost is largely about the platform tier and the number of devices or sites, plus any managed service you choose. Because the features are often already licensed, the biggest cost is usually not turning them on, and the biggest saving is the operational time they give back.

How does AI-driven networking relate to switching, Wi-Fi and SD-WAN?
